So im 20+4 now and the last 3 appointments my OB didnt ask for a urine sample. Is that wierd? I thought urine tests were a regular part of the prenatal visits. Im wondering if I should bring this up with her. The last urine test i had was in my first trimester.

it's a bit weird, but apparently the new normal
i think you can request them though, and i think it's worth having them done now and then (if not every appointment), as there's a lot they can catch early from it

I don’t get them done unless there is a concern my last pregnancy I only had 1 when my blood pressure was a little high so they checked for protein

If your low risk then its not standard to have them at every visit. I only have one of 2 at the start and thats it. Baby number 4 for me and never had them every visit. If your high risk then i would understand

I’m on my 4th baby and I’ve had one every visit for every kid. Maybe it just depends on the dr/practice but seems like it should be standard to me. It’s a simple sample to get and can detect protein/blood etc indicating problems that otherwise wouldn’t be immediately noticeable. Couldn’t hurt to ask why they’re not doing it ♀️

yeah i agree its annoying and i always feel so guilty abt questioning, my doctor doesnt make me feel guilty but it just feels that way to me. Ugh annoying.

I think it depends on the country, in Canada and I never had a urine test at any visit with my first baby

@Allly202112,
I second that! Outside the usa I havent been tested at all. In the US every visit, outside never even asked but had to do at least two blood test per pregnancy

I’ve only ever had one for my first visit. With my first baby I just had one or two. This one I’ve only done one at my first prenatal visit. We’re low risk, my blood pressure is good.

I had them done every appointment in 2022. this time around same doctor and had only had 1 at initial appointment until 20 weeks when I had a yeast infection I asked about it and she said it's not standard just done as needed now.
